Even a day before the squad announcement for the T20 World Cup, Taskin Ahmed's participation in the World Cup was uncertain due to an injury. However, with the expectation that he would be fit before the mega event begins, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the World Cup squad including Taskin as vice-captain.
Despite this, there was uncertainty about whether Taskin would be able to play in the initial matches of the World Cup.
On Wednesday (May 15), before leaving the country, Bangladesh team captain Najmul Hossain Shanto shared hopeful news about Taskin during an official press conference.
He stated that Taskin would be able to play from the very first match, implying that the Tiger pacer would be fully fit before the World Cup begins.
"We are hoping that Taskin will recover and be ready to play from the first match. If not, we will proceed with backup options. From what the medical team has informed us, he will be able to play from the first match." Shanto said in Mirpur.
The Bangladesh team will leave for the United States tonight. Before boarding the World Cup plane, the Tigers had a photo session at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium this afternoon.
