Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gil was fined Rs 24 lakh for his side maintaining a slow over-rate for the second time this season, against CSK in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Gill was fined Rs 24 lakh, while the other Playing XI members, including the Impact Player, were fined either Rs 6 lakh or 25 percent of their match fees.

According to the regulations set by both BCCI and IPL, a franchise captain will have to face a one-match ban if his side is found guilty of maintaining a slow over-rate in three matches in a season.

"As it was his team's second offence of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences, Gill was fined INR 24 lakh. The rest of the members of the Playing XI, including the Impact Player, were each individually fined either INR 6 lakh or 25 percent of their respective match fees, whichever is lesser," the BCCI/IPL statement read.

The opening batter scored his fourth century of his IPL career, a brilliant 104 off 55 as he stitched a record stand of 210 runs for the first wicket with Sai Sudharsan. His ton helped GT complete a redemption in the reverse fixture by defeating the defending champions by an emphatic 35 runs.
