South African all-rounder Chris Morris and pacer Anrich Nortje will miss the upcoming season of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), which will commence on August 26.
Veteran all-rounder Chris Morris has cited personal reason to opt-out of CPL, while Nortje will miss the tournament as it clashes with the Sri Lanka-South Africa series.
Apart from them, Rassie van der Dussen and Wanidu Hasaranga also won’t be available for the T20 tournament. Morris’ replacement player has been announced as Glenn Phillips who will play for Barbados Royals.
The tour comprises three ODIs and as many T20Is between the two sides. It will begin on September 2 with the first ODI and then conclude on September 14 with the third T20I. The R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo will host all six matches of the tour.
The CPL 2021 will be hosted entirely by Warner Park from August 26 to September 15. The 33-match tournament will allow fans to attend at up to 50% capacity of the 8,000-seat venue – as long as they show proof of vaccination to enter the stadium facility.
Players, support staff, commentators and broadcast crew in the CPL bubble can move directly to the IPL bubble in the UAE, which is starting from September 19.
