Soumya Sarkar’s unbeaten century after Ebadat Hossain five wicket haul helped BCBXI register an easy eight wicket win over Zimbabwe in the practice game at BKSP on Friday.
Soumya, who was leading the side, came up with captain’s knock as he struck an unbeaten 102 off 114 balls to guide his side to 179-2 in the 39th over after pacer Ebadat Hossain 5-19 dismissed the opponent for `178 runs.
Soumya, who was dropped for the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe, made his mark as he hit Zimbabwe bowlers all around the ground to complete a scintillating hundred.
It was even more note worthy as he had travel from Khulna where he was featuring in the National Cricket League on a consistent basis both with bat and ball.
Another discarded cricketer Mosaddek Hossain also showed some promise as he made 34 off 48 balls before taking self-retirement to give Ariful Haque some opportunity to bat.

Ebadat grabbed 5-19 while Mohammad Saifuddin picked 3-32 to put the visitors in all sort of trouble in a wicket that assisted good pace and even bounce.
Zimbabwe were rescued by Mazakadza, who scored 102 runs, when his team mates were more interested in returning back to the dressing room after going out in the middle rather than trying to survive the odds.
Zimbabwe was tottering at 47-5 before Mazakadza and Elton Chigumbura resurrected the ship through adding 124 runs for the sixth wicket.
Just when Zimbabwe were looking to pick the momentum through some late blaze, Saifuddin stole the show by removing Chigumbura with a magnificent yorker, to bring the host back into the game as the visitors lost their last four wickets adding seven runs.
Ebadat, who began his rampage by removing Craig Ervine, looked to be bowling his heart out while the army-like celebration proved that he was eyeing to make a statement both oin and off the field
