Australia have been dealt a major setback ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, with fast bowler Pat Cummins ruled out of the tournament due to injury.

Cummins is yet to fully recover from a persistent back problem and will miss the event, which begins on February 7 in India and Sri Lanka.

The finalised 15-member squad also sees top-order batter Matthew Short dropped from the original lineup. Left-arm pacer Ben Dwarshuis and batter Matthew Renshaw have been named as replacements.

Selector Tony Dodemaide expressed confidence that both players are capable of making strong contributions during the tournament.
