Pakistan stood firmly by Bangladesh throughout its standoff with India and the ICC over the T20 World Cup.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi had stated that if Bangladesh were denied participation in the World Cup, he would consult the government regarding Pakistan’s involvement in the tournament.

Discussions were also held with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Pakistan is expected to announce a final decision on its World Cup participation by Monday.

Amid talks of a possible boycott, PCB selector Aqib Javed announced Pakistan’s 15-member squad for the tournament. Media reports suggest that Pakistan have already booked tickets to Colombo in preparation for the World Cup.

The team was also scheduled to unveil its World Cup jersey after the second T20I against Australia, but the PCB has postponed the event for reasons yet to be disclosed, a development confirmed by a reliable source.

Earlier, Bangladesh had informed the ICC of its decision not to travel to India for the T20 World Cup due to security concerns. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) formally requested that Bangladesh’s matches be moved out of India, sending multiple letters and holding several meetings with the ICC.
