Peshawar Zalmi continued their strong run in the Pakistan Super League, defeating Lahore Qalandars by 76 runs in the 19th match in Karachi with a commanding all-round performance.

After posting a competitive 173 for 7, Zalmi’s bowlers bundled Lahore out for just 97 in 17 overs to seal a comfortable victory.

Zalmi made a brisk start through Mohammad Haris (18 off 10) before Babar Azam and Kusal Mendis steadied the innings.

Mendis was the standout performer with a well-paced 74 off 48 balls, striking 5 fours and 4 sixes, while Babar contributed a composed 43 off 40 as the duo built a crucial partnership.

Late cameos from Michael Bracewell (21 off 10) and Iftikhar Ahmed (7)* helped Zalmi push the total to a competitive 173/7.

For Lahore, captain Shaheen Shah Afridi led from the front with the ball, picking up 3 for 22, while Mustafizur Rahman chipped in with 2 for 30, including key wickets in the death overs.

Chasing 174, Lahore never found momentum. They lost Mohammad Naeem early before Abdullah Shafique (21) and Fakhar Zaman (21) tried to rebuild.

However, regular wickets derailed the chase as Zalmi’s bowlers kept striking at crucial moments.

Bangladeshi pacer Shoriful Islam made an early breakthrough, while Nahid Rana impressed again with 2 for 15, using his pace effectively to break partnerships.

All-rounder Michael Bracewell was the pick of the bowlers with 3 for 18, while spinner Sufiyan Muqeem also grabbed 3 for 21 to wrap up the innings.

Despite a fighting 20 from Dunith Wellalage, Lahore were bowled out for 97, falling well short of the target.
