Speaking to a local sports platform, Zampa admitted he was no longer a major target for IPL franchises and felt the money on offer did not justify the length of the tournament, particularly for a player with his skill set.
“To be brutally honest, for someone with my skill set, the money just isn’t there compared to what’s available for other skill sets,” Zampa said.
“Considering the amount of time the IPL requires, it didn’t seem like a reasonable choice for me to keep playing. I was planning to take a break, but then the PSL came onto the radar about a month ago,” he added.
The 33-year-old had initially planned to take a short break from cricket, but his schedule changed after an unexpected opportunity came up in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
“It all happened pretty quickly, but I’m enjoying it.”
Zampa was drafted by Karachi Kings only a few weeks ago and has already made an encouraging start in the tournament, with the leg-spinner saying he is enjoying the experience after a quick turnaround in plans.
