The initiative is aimed at bringing Bangladesh’s domestic cricket into a more organised and unified system.
The BCB formally unveiled the new structure and its logo at a ceremony on Sunday in the presence of board president Tamim Iqbal.
The key feature of ‘Domestic 3’ is the integration of all three formats into one competition structure rather than running them as separate tournaments.
Players will represent their respective franchises across all three formats.
The competition will feature six teams, with the unified structure designed to create a more organised domestic season while giving players regular competitive cricket in all three formats.
The BCB had earlier approved the six-team model in principle, with team ownership to be offered to established corporate and financial institutions for an initial three-year period.
According to the plans, the management draft will take place on September 29. Each franchise will appoint three coaches, an analyst, a trainer and a physiotherapist.
Barishal has been selected as the starting venue for the new competition, while Khulna is being considered as the second venue.
If Khulna is not selected, Dhaka could host the matches instead.
Earlier reports also confirmed Barishal as the planned venue for the opening phase of the new domestic model.
The player auction is scheduled for October 26, with each team allowed to sign 23 players.
Across the three formats, the competition will comprise 19 T20 matches, seven four-day matches and 16 one-day matches, making it a 42-match domestic season under the new structure.
The T20 competition is scheduled to begin in Barishal on December 15, while the four-day competition is expected to start in January.
The BCB had previously indicated that the T20 leg would be the first event under the new structure, with December set as the tentative window.
