Bangladesh pacer Shoriful Islam departed Dhaka on Saturday to join Colombo Strikers for the upcoming edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL).
Apart from Shoriful, ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, Tawhid Hridoy and Mohammad Mithun will also feature in the 20-over format franchise league.
Shoriful spoke to the media before leaving the country, he was thrilled for his maiden overseas tournament and stated that his experience will be useful for the Asia Cup, next month.
"The first franchise league is always exciting for everyone. So, I'm also a bit excited. Yes, it will definitely help (in the Asia Cup). If I can adapt to the wicket and the condition, it will help me seek knowledge about the conditions," said Shoriful.
Another Bangladesh fast-bowler Taskin Ahmed took part in the franchise league Zim-Afro T-10 for the first time. The pacer displayed a stellar performance as he took 11 wickets in 7 matches and is currently the tournament's highest wicket-taker.
Shoriful said he was motivated by his teammate's performance,” When a cricketer from the country plays well in a foreign league, everyone appreciates it," he said.
"I always strive to give my best whenever the opportunity arises. Many cricketers participate in franchise leagues to gain experience, and I aim to do the same to enhance my skills," he added.
