Before the start of the fourth T20I between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Friday, a minute's silence was observed in honor of Bangladesh Air Force Squadron Leader Asim Jawad, who tragically died in an air crash in Chattogram yesterday.

Squadron Leader Jawad, 32, passed away following the crash of a YAK-130 trainer fighter jet into the Karnaphuli River in Chattogram's Patenga area.

The incident occurred at around 10:25 am when the aircraft was returning to base after a training session.

Despite being rushed to the Navy hospital at BNS Patenga in critical condition, he could not be saved, according to a press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR).
