Gujrat Titans roped in Sandeep Warrier as the replacement for ace fast bowler Mohammad Shami and Mumbai Indians brought South Africa's Kwena Maphaka for the injured Dilshan Madhushanka.
Madhushanka suffered a hamstring injury during the Bangladesh tour and was ruled out of the entire tournament. The 17-year-old South African fast bowler Kwena Maphaka was added as the last-minute inclusion in Mumbai's camp.
Maphaka emerged as a standout player in the 2024 Under-19 World Cup, leading South Africa to the semi-finals with 21 wickets in six ODIs, averaging 9.71 and an economy rate of 3.81.
The youngster holds the record for the most wickets in a single edition of the youth World Cup.
Mumbai have six other specialist fast bowlers in their squad including Gerald Coetzee, Jasprit Bumrah, Luke Wood and others.
Shami, who underwent ankle surgery in London after finishing as India's highest wicket-taker at the 2023 ODI World Cup, has also been ruled out of the cash-rich league IPL.
Warrier replaced Shami in the Gujrat squad, he represented Mumbai in the last season but did not feature in any game.
