Fortune Barishal captain Tamim Iqbal lauded all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan for his performance in the 10th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). However, Tamim highlighted Shoriful Islam and Towhid Hridoy as the standout performers of the tournament.
Tamim heaped praises on pacer Shoriful Islam for his exceptional bowling performance as he ended the tournament as the highest wicket-taker with 22 wickets despite Durdanto Dhaka's unfortunate outing in the season.
He also mentioned Towhid for his significant contributions throughout the tournament who finished as the second-highest run-scorer, showcased his talent by scoring 462 runs in 14 innings and becoming the first player to achieve a century in the season.
"If you ask me about performances then there are a couple of names. If you think about Shoriful, I think he bowled extremely well. It is unfortunate that they [Durdanto Dhaka] did not win," Tamim said during the press conference.
In addition, Tamim acknowledged Shakib's impressive display, noting his notable improvement as the tournament progressed.
Shakib was the best all-rounder of the tournament as he finished with 17 wickets in 13 matches, making him the second-highest wicket-taker and scored 255 runs with the bat.
"There are a lot of others who did well. Shakib has done well with bat and ball. He did not start well but did quite well in the middle and at the latter part of the BPL. So, there are a number of players who played really well. But I must mention the names of these two players, Towhid Hridoy and Shoriful Islam, separately," he added.
