Marufa Akter shortlisted for ICC's Emerging Women's Cricketer of the Year

Bangladesh's national women's cricket team's young pacer, Marufa Akter, has secured a place in the ICC's Emerging Women's Cricketer of the Year shortlist for 2023.


This prestigious list also includes Australia's Phoebe Litchfield, England's Lauren Bell, and Scotland's Darcey Carter.

In December 2022, Marufa gained recognition for her outstanding performances in both white-ball formats.


Most of her matches in 2023 have contributed significantly to her career. In 9 ODIs played last year, she took an average of 24.77 with 10 wickets.


In 14 T20Is, she maintained an average of 23.30 with 10 wickets.


Notably, her impactful performance included 3 wickets for 23 runs against Sri Lanka in the Women's T20 World Cup and 4 wickets for 29 runs against India in a One Day International in Dhaka.
