Shami, Chahar ruled out of South Africa tour

India fast bowlers Mohammad Shami and Deepak Chahar has been ruled out of the upcoming South Africa tour due to injuries, confirmed by BCCI.
“Mohammed Shami, whose participation in the Test series was subject to fitness has not been cleared by the BCCI Medical Team and the fast bowler is ruled out of the two Tests,” BCCI said in a press release.
Chahar has withdrawn from the ODI leg due to a family emergency. Akash Deep, currently with the India A squad competing against South Africa A, has been named as Chahar’s replacement.
“Deepak Chahar has informed the BCCI that he will not be available for the upcoming ODI series due to a family medical emergency. The Men’s Selection Committee has named Mr Akash Deep as his replacement.”
Batsman Shreyas Iyer will be available for the first ODI but will skip the remaining two in order the prepare for the Test series, beginning on December 26.
The first game of the three-match ODI series begins in Johannesburg on Sunday.
