While Shakib Al Hasan absence is believed to create so many loopholes in Bangladesh team, Soumya Sarkar said that it’s not right that he alone can win the match for the team

Having said that Soumya stressed upon the requirements of putting team effort, which Bangladesh couldn’t do in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka and paid of the price of being whitewashed eventually.

Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib took a leave from the series as he has plans of performing the ' Holy Hajj '.

Shakib was instrumental in all the games Bangladesh played in the World Cup. He has passed a phenomenal World Cup, scoring 606 runs and taking 11 wickets.

It’s something that nobody has done before. Shakib didn't have an off game in the World Cup, he contributed in every single match for us.

"It's not like that. If one player [ Shakib ] would have been here it would be different, it's not like that. Or with one's performance, we would have won the match that's not correct too,"  Soumya said at the post-match press conference.

But Soumya also believes if Shakib did well then others might have been motivated by his performance could have done well.
“But it could have happened that if he was here others could have played better because of his motivational performance," added Soumya.

As Shakib wasn't here, Soumya doesn't want to talk about him rather he wants to talk about the 15 players who played in this series. And the 3-0 result is because they couldn't deliver in the pitch.

"As he wasn't here if we talk about him, it won't be right. Who is not here, we cant talk about him. Those who were here we couldn't play well that's why this result,"

Bangladesh lost the third ODI against Sri Lanka by 122 runs to accept the shameful whitewash. Its the 27 times Bangladesh have walked into this path of shame and its the fifth time in the hands of Sri Lanka.
