West Indian skipper Jason Holder said on Thursday they are weakest in the ODI’s across format.
With the 125 runs defeat against India, West Indies semifinal hope is well and truly over. After this abysmal defeat, West Indies captain Jason Holder stated that ODI, is their weakest format.

“ODI, probably our weakest format, “ said Holder after the match. “Batting was too inconsistent. Can’t fault the bowlers. Need to improve. Kemar Roach was outstanding today. Youngsters have chipped in here and there. Bowlers had a reasonable campaign. Can’t fault their efforts. Fielding, definitely has to improve. So does the batting,” said Holder.
“The bowlers did a fantastic job on this surface. Just let ourselves down with the bat. In hindsight, Dhoni’s (stumping) miss a crucial moment we didn’t seize. Let ourselves down significantly in this tournament. Missed a few chances in the field which cost us,” added Holder.
But it wasn’t always this way. West Indies once were the champion of the World. They won two consecutive World Cup in 1975 and 1979. They also played in the final of 1983 World Cup. But after the era of great Clive Llyod, Sir Viv Richards, Gordon Greenidge, Joel Garner and Malcolm Marshall the dominance of West Indies slowly deteriorate. Some other greats like Brian Lara, Carl Hooper, Curtly Ambrose and Courtney Walsh came they failed to bring back the glory days of the West Indies. And it’s so bad that once a champion of the World are now number eighth team in the ODI’s. They just won one match in the seven matches they have played in this World Cup. Just before the start of the World Cup they lost tri-nation series to Bangladesh in Ireland.
