Ahead of their departure, Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana Joty shared the team's goals, emphasizing the need for batters to play responsible innings and bowlers to maintain economical spells.

Speaking to the media at Mirpur Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, Joty said, “We play Pakistan regularly, but we have had fewer encounters against West Indies. However, before facing them in the qualifiers, we have matches against Thailand and Scotland, which will serve as good preparation.”

The Bangladesh skipper stressed the importance of the batting unit in achieving success. “If we can build early momentum, it will be beneficial for the team. Our batting needs to be strong,” she added.

Although Pakistan's pitches are generally batting-friendly, Joty expressed confidence in her bowling unit.

“Our bowlers have always delivered exceptional performances. The goal is to ensure they bowl effectively on batting-friendly tracks,” she remarked.

Reflecting on recent series, Joty highlighted the challenges of performing on overseas pitches. “In spin-friendly conditions at home, landing the ball in the right areas brings wickets. But overseas, it’s tougher. Our plan is to focus on maintaining economy rather than chasing wickets,” she explained.

The six-team T20 World Cup Qualifiers will commence in Lahore on April 5, with the top two teams securing a spot in the main event.

Bangladesh will also play warm-up matches before their campaign officially begins on April 10 against Thailand. They will then face Ireland (April 13), Scotland (April 15), West Indies (April 17), and hosts Pakistan (April 19) in the group stage.
