'Bangladesh are a big team now'

Bangladesh opener Anamul Haque Bijoy has expressed his happiness with the way things have turned out for the Bangladesh team in the ongoing tri-nation series. He stated that the wins have allowed the Tigers to be relieved off some pressure.
‘Everyone feels good after winning. Obviously, everyone is playing well. We have been able to play well as a team. There is obviously a feel good factor here. As a result, the pressure is relieved a bit when that happens.’
He also spoke about the freedom bestowed upon him.
‘I have been given the freedom to play like I want to, which feels good. I am trying to play according to the needs of the team.’
In the last game against Sri Lanka, Bijoy got no less than 5 lives. And he spoke about that as well.
‘Getting lives are a part of the game. I always focus on the next ball instead of thinking about the ball where I could have been out.’
He then spoke about his role with the team and how everyone has supported him since his comeback.
‘I am playing aggressively because the team needs me to. So
I will try to continue playing like I have been.

‘Everyone has been very supportive [to me]. Everyone is positive. And this is something I really like. I have always wanted to play according to the needs of the team and since everyone is happy, I am happy too.’
Bijoy, who got good starts in the last two games, stressed the importance of scoring big. He also seemed extremely chuffed about sharing the pitch with Tamim Iqbal, citing him as a point of reference for himself.
‘I always think about scoring big after settling down. However, I couldn’t play a big innings after settling down [in the last two games]. So I will try to play a big innings.
‘It is a matter of pride to bat with Tamim bhai. From the perspective of a top order batsman, there is no-one more supportive than Tamim bhai. It is always a great sight to see both openers scoring runs, which is happening right now, as it makes the job of the remaining batsmen easier.
‘I feel very good after being able to bat with Tamim bhai after a long time. If I can build a 150-run partnership with Tamim Iqbal, it will be a matter of joy for me.
‘I think that playing long innings is a matter of habit. I can understand that by looking at the way Tamim bhai has been batting since 2015. For me, as a junior, there is a lot to learn [from him]. I think that I can play a big innings with the help of some advice from the seniors and a bit of luck.
‘So I won’t be that difficult as I have scored runs in the domestic circuit and I am trying to bring that form in the international arena.
When asked about his role with the team, he said: ‘I can change my game according to the need of the hour
without any problems whatsoever. If a flurry of wickets fall on the other end,
I will try to anchor the innings. When there is a need for striking the ball in
T20s, I will try to do that as well. For Test cricket, I will try to bat as
long as I can.
‘I may be an aggressive batsman, but I am developing the
ability to play according to the demand of the situation.
Finally, he concluded by stating the calibre of the players in the team and that Bangladesh are no longer minnows.
‘Seeing Mustafizur back in a form is a matter of joy for us.
We are always happy when he takes wickets. Also, the presence of Mashrafe bhai
always helps the bowlers because there is so much to learn from him.
‘We have a lot of great players in the dressing room, players that can change the scope of the game all by themselves. We are playing as a team now as everyone is trying to take Bangladesh to the top echelons.
