Rangpur Riders continued their unbeaten streak in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League season, securing their seventh consecutive win in the group stage. On Monday, Nurul Hasan Sohan’s side defeated Khulna Tigers by 8 runs in the final match of the Sylhet phase.

After winning the toss, Rangpur opted to bat first and posted a competitive total of 186 runs for 5 wickets in their 20 overs.

Opener Taufiq Khan contributed 36 runs off 30 balls, while his fellow opener Steven Taylor (13) and one-down batter Saif Hassan (7) failed to make an impact.


The recovery came through a brilliant partnership between Pakistani all-rounders Iftikhar Ahmed and Khushdil Shah. The duo added 115 runs for the fourth wicket. Iftikhar scored 43 runs off 36 balls, hitting five boundaries, while Khushdil smashed a scintillating 73 off 35 balls, including six sixes and four fours.

In response, Khulna Tigers fell just short, finishing at 178 for 9 in their 20 overs.

However, Khulna’s chase faltered after Afif’s dismissal, with the middle and lower order failing to capitalize. Mahidul Ankon scored 15 off 12 balls, and Imrul Kayes managed just 5 runs off 3 balls.



Needing 18 runs in the last two overs, Khulna's batters, including Ankon and Mohammad Nawaz, were unable to finish the job, handing Rangpur another hard-fought victory.
