Rangpur Riders' head coach Mickey Arthur has addressed concerns about managing the workload of pacer Nahid Rana during the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

The 24-year-old has been a standout performer, playing six consecutive matches in just 11 days, sparking discussions about the potential impact on his fitness.

Arthur highlighted the challenges of workload management for a young talent like Nahid, who has quickly become one of Bangladesh cricket’s most promising players. While resting him has been considered, Arthur is cautious about disrupting the team’s balance as they continue their unbeaten run in the tournament.

"We'll see what happens. Resting players and managing their workload is always tricky. Nahid is only 24, and he's already exceptional. If we find an opportunity to rest him, we will, but it's difficult to decide right now." Arthur said.

In 2024, Nahid established himself as a key figure in Bangladesh cricket, and his impressive performances have carried over to the current BPL. With nine wickets in six matches, he is currently the tournament’s third-highest wicket-taker.

His contributions have been instrumental in Rangpur Riders' six-match winning streak, which has placed them at the top of the points table.

Despite his exceptional form, concerns about fatigue have surfaced due to the demanding schedule. Rangpur captain Nurul Hasan Sohan recently emphasized that the franchise is closely monitoring Nahid's fitness, taking all necessary precautions.

Nahid also confirmed that both Rangpur Riders and the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have provided specific guidelines to manage his workload.

Arthur, however, is keen to strike a balance between giving Nahid rest and maintaining the team's momentum.

"We've built a strong team with a clear structure. In the middle overs, we have two fast bowlers performing consistently, and our spinners are doing a great job. Maintaining this balance is crucial. Whether we rest Nahid or not will depend on how he's feeling and whether there are signs of fatigue. We'll reassess after the next round." he explained.
