Ponting responds to coaching reports

There were rumours of former Australia captain Ricky Ponting
becoming the new coach of the Kangaroos for the T20 World Cup to be played in
2020 at the country itself. And Ponting has come out to confess that the
rumours were indeed true.
The legendary former right-handed batsman claimed that he
would like to work with his nation’s cricket team at some capacity and has
had talks with Cricket Australia. However, he also claimed that everything is
undecided as of yet.
"I've had discussions with Cricket Australia for a long
time about getting involved somewhere in some way shape or form," the
veteran cricketer said.
"I would like to get involved somewhere if it works out
that way, but certainly nothing has been decided as yet," Ponting assured.

Punter has already been involved with the coaching aspect of
the game as he was the assistant coach of Australia during their 3 T20I games against
Sri Lanka, working alongside stand-in head coach, Justin Langer, and Jason
Gillespie.
He has also coached the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier
League and is set to be the head coach of the Delhi Daredevils in next year’s
edition. However, his commitments with Australia could deter him from
participating in the endeavours of foreign leagues and he has confessed that he
is already aware of it.
"There's tournaments all over the world at different
times, it is going to interfere with things I've already got locked in which
I'm obviously enjoying," he concluded.
Ponting is expected to play the role of Lehmann’s assistant in Australia’s upcoming tri-nation series against England and New Zealand that begins from next month.
