Gayle fears of local spinners-Mashrafe

Former Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza said that T20 specialist Chris Gayle was telling him (M) to keep going with the strike in fear of the local spinners during a match in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).
While he was talking on the Facebook live chat session with Bangladesh ODI skipper Tamim Iqbal, Mashrafe made the revelation. He was flanked by wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim and Bangladesh T20 skipper Mahmudullah Riyad in the live programme.
“He (Gayle) was telling me to keep going, keep going. I was surprised at what he was saying. He is telling me to keep going, where I was supposed to say him go and hit, I’ve done what I could. He repeatedly was telling me to keep going,” Mashrafe replied to a Tamim’s question regarding his batting highlight.
Mashrafe has played two seasons with Gayle in Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), a franchise-based cricket tournament- the biggest franchise league of the country.
However, Mashrafe also shared one of his batting moments in Lord’s facing one of the great quick bowlers of England Steve Harmison in a 2005 Test tour, where Mashrafe got himself bowled out by the fast-bowler in both innings. He was totally hapless with the highest speed of 156kmh.
“But if you say about the biggest highlight I will then say I have faced Harmison (Steve Harmison) at Lord’s,” he said.
“My gods haven’t you seen the batting of Courtney Walsh, it was the same situation there,” he added.
