Gayle scores just seven in his last World Cup match

West Indies hard hitter batsman Chris Gayle played his last World cup match today against Afghanistan. In his last match World Cup match Gayle could only score seven runs before being caught behind in an outside off delivery from Dawlat Zadran.
In his career, Gayle played 35 World Cup matches and scored 1186 runs with an average of 35.83. Gayle is almost 40 years old and this is definitely going to be his last World Cup. But Gayle decided to postpone his retirement from international cricket just now and expressed his desire to play in the ODI series in India.

The 2019 World Cup is Gayle’s fifth World Cup. Gayle started his World Cup career back in February 2003 against South Africa. He scored only two runs in his debut match.
This World cup has been a forgetful affair for Gayle and also for the West Indies. Gayle has scored 242 runs so far with an average of 30.25. Gayle’s team West Indies are also down and out in this World cup.
His side has come up against Afghanistan on the back of six straight defeats. West Indies are at the ninth position on the point table with just three points at the moment. They just won one match so far against Pakistan which was their opening World Cup match.
