Mumbai Indians’ All-round Show; Secure Convincing Victory Over Chennai Super Kings

Sitting at both the ends of the points table, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings took on each other at Sharjah stadium. However, the game didn’t last long as Mumbai Indians’ strong bowling unit didn’t allow their opponent to put up a total that can be easily chasable.
Regular Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma didn’t take part in the game due to injury. In his absence, veteran player Kieron Pollard took over the reign. And, Saurabh Tiwary came in the playing eleven as well.
On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni made some changes as well where N Jagadeesan, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Imran Tahir were included against a rampant Mumbai Indians squad. For this game, Kedar Jadhav, Piyush Chawla and Shane Watson were dropped. Mumbai won the toss and elected to bowl first.
To face one of the strongest sides in the league, CSK’s batsman failed to cope up and they lost their four wickets within three runs that too within three overs. A stunning first over from Trent Boult witnessed the dismissal of Gaikwad who fell to counter-attack and fell for a duck.
Jasprit Bumrah too joined the party with the twin dismissals in his very first over with the wickets of Ambati Rayudu and N Jagadeesan off consecutive balls.
However, MS Dhoni tried to steady the ship and became the first player to score the double-digit but could only manage run-a-ball 16 before getting out to Rahul Chahar. Sam Curran, the in-form youngster stood strong at one end, brought up his
fifty (52 off 47 with four boundaries and two sixes) and lifted the total to 114 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs.
While chasing, in the absence of Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan opened with Quinton de Kock. The duo added an unbeaten 116-run stand and sealed their place in the playoffs of the cash-rich league. Ishan Kishan took on all the CSK bowlers over the park in his swashbuckling 68-run knock off 37 deliveries which also included six boundaries and five sixes.
Quinton de Kock supported him quite well with a 37-ball 46, including five boundaries and two sixes and reached the target in just 12.2 overs without losing a single wicket.
