Indian legendary cricketer Anil Kumble stated that Bangladesh batters need to perform to be able to beat South Africa. He also urged batter Litton Das and all-rounder Shakib al Hasan to deliver strong performances in order to secure victory against the Proteas.

Bangladesh kicked off the World Cup campaign clinching a two-wicket win against Sri Lanka after restricting them to 124 runs. Bangladesh's top-orders struggled while chasing and lost a couple of wickets but managed to gain control of the game after Litton and Towhid Hridoy formed a crucial partnership.

Bangladesh has never beaten the Proteas in the shortest format of cricket, but the Kumble acknowledged the importance of Shakib and Litton stepping up and performing against the Proteas.

However, Litton regained his form and scored a crucial 36 runs in their World Cup opener, Shakib is yet to deliver his best for the Tigers in the prestigious tournament.

“If Bangladesh has to beat South Africa, they must bat well. I think in this match, Litton Das will be the most important batter for Bangladesh. The team will have high expectations from him, and he will be under pressure. He is a good player, and he has also scored runs in the previous match. Shakib Al Hasan is another key player. Basically, a lot will depend on Litton and Shakib,” said Kumble.
