Bangladesh-Sri Lanka to meet in Women’s Asia Cup group stage

Bangladesh and Sri Lanka find themselves in Group B alongside Malaysia and Thailand as the Asian Cricket Council unveiled the groupings and fixtures for the upcoming Women's T20I Asia Cup, set to be held in Dambulla, Sri Lanka from July 19 to 28.


This edition of the tournament sees an expansion to eight participating teams, up from seven in the previous 2022 edition.


In addition to traditional powerhouses India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh, the tournament welcomes the semifinalists of the Women's Premier Cup 2024: UAE, Malaysia, Nepal, and Thailand.


Group A boasts a formidable lineup featuring India, Pakistan, UAE, and Nepal, while Group B promises competitive clashes between Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Thailand.

India enters the tournament as the defending champions, having clinched the title a record seven times.


However, Bangladesh remains a formidable contender, having secured the championship once by triumphing over India in the final of the 2018 edition.
