After defeating New Zealand by 42 runs in the fifth T20I, Pakistan’s Babar Azam left for Dhaka from Christchurch to join his Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) team Rangpur Riders.
Rangpur coach Sohel Islam is hoping to get Pakistan’s former captain tomorrow (Tuesday) against Sylhet Strikers.
“The chances of playing the match are very high and he will hopefully play the match. We already planned his role and decided where he will play. It is definitely good for the team” Sohel said to media on Monday.

Many Pakistani cricketers are not playing in the BPL this year due to non-objection letter (NOC).
Four cricketers with the green signal are Babar, Mohammad Rizwan, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Wasim Jr.
Among them, pacer Shaheen Afridi will play again in the ILT20. The remaining three cricketers will soon set foot in Bangladesh to play BPL.
Rizwan will play for Comilla Victorians and Wasim Jr. will play for Khulna Tigers.
Another Pakistani Mohammad Haris had arrived in Dhaka to represent Chattogram in the BPL's tenth edition but he did not receive the necessary clearance from the PCB due to his prior involvement in two franchise leagues between July 2023 and July 2024, reaching the maximum limit set by the board.
