Former captain of the Comilla Victorians Imrul Kayes said he has no regret after being relieved of the captaincy role, stating that the franchise has handed the position to a deserving player.
Comilla decided to replace wicket-keeper batter Litton Das as the captain of the team in the 10th edition instead of three-time winning captain Imrul.
Imrul, who led Comilla to three titles in 2018, 2022, and 2023 after taking over from Steven Smith, said the change was normal and emphasized his commitment to contributing to the team as a player.
“It's pretty normal to me. It was never like that I had to lead. I took over the captaincy after Steve Smith. So, it’s normal. And now as I’m no longer the captain... It's still the same,” Imrul told Cricfrenzy.
According to Imrul, Comilla has changed the leadership thinking about the future. He emphasized the necessity of change and supported the franchise's decision to appoint the Litton for the captaincy role
“I want to contribute to the team as a player. And change is necessary. I think captaincy has been given to the right person. They have thought about for future,” he said.
“I enjoy playing as a player. When I was captain, there was an additional responsibility. There was an understanding, which was good. It was not difficult for me at all. As a professional cricketer, you have to adapt wherever you play. Each franchise has its plan. I think they are moving forward with that plan,” he added.
