England have appointed former West Indies captain Kieron Pollard to bolster their coaching staff for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
The 36-year-old all-rounder will serve as an assistant coach, providing valuable insights into local conditions during the tournament set to take place in the West Indies and the United States.
Rob Key, England's managing director, emphasized the significance of having a coach with "local knowledge," especially following their disappointing defense in the 50-over World Cup.
As the current T20 World Cup champions, England aims to leverage Pollard's extensive experience.
Pollard played a pivotal role in West Indies' triumph in the 2012 T20 World Cup and captained the West Indies team before retiring from all formats of international cricket in April 2022.
Despite his retirement from international cricket, Pollard remains an active player in T20 franchise cricket, recently leading the Trinbago Knight Riders to the final of the Caribbean Premier League.
