Stokes to miss early county games in fitness battle

England's Test captain Ben Stokes said his participation in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 is highly dependent on England’s International schedule. As he wants to give himself enough time to prepare for a one-off Test against Ireland.
England are currently busy with the New Zealand series, they beat the hosts New Zealand by 267 runs in the first Test in Mount Maunganui.
Following the New Zealand series England will host Australia for the most anticipated Ashes series and Stokes and the one-off Test against Ireland, keeping their workload in mind ahead of the Ashes.

"Yes, I will play. I think it’s a little bit too far ahead to say (for others), but one thing I’ve got to look at is we’ve got the Ashes after the Ireland Test," said Stokes.

"I'll probably get round the individuals and ask them what they want to be ready for for the Ashes, because those five games are obviously the big ones of the summer, and you've got to think about what lads want," he said.
Stokes is set to feature for Chennai Super Kings he landed a bumper GBP 1.63 million deal in the 2023 auction.
