England, current world champions in both limited-over formats, is set to play three ODI and three-match T20I series against Bangladesh from March 1st as they will set foot in Bangladesh on February 24. Amidst the scenario, Tiger pacer Taskin Ahmed was called up to play the Pakistan Super League (PSL) for Multan Sultans for a few matches before this series.

However, the 27-years old pacer turned down the offer to play for the country in the England series.

Taskin got injured at the end of the recently included Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) but returned to practice today [Saturday] after performing Umrah. Taskin, who has recovered from injury, does not want to be deterred from serving the national team by getting injured again.

"I got an offer from Multan Sultans. They wanted me for three matches. Later I spoke to the physio. He said, 'You are fit but it seems you should train a bit more. You'll miss the England series if you play and get hurt.' Later I thought that going for three matches wouldn’t be worth it" Taskin said to Cricfrenzy.

Earlier, Taskin also got an offer to play in the Indian Premier League last year. At that time he was also focused on national duty and reluctant to play IPL.

“Rewarded by the board (for not playing IPL last time). The main goal is to play for the country rather than playing in the franchise league. I don't regret not being able to play IPL. If you do well, more opportunities will come. At the end of the day, to play in the national team is to suffer,” the speed star said to media in Mirpur after practice.

Premier all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is the sole representative from Bangladesh in this year's PSL.

About 30 Bangladeshi cricketers registered for the PSL draft, but none got picked. Later, Shakib was signed directly by Peshawar Zalmi.

Shakib moved to Pakistan after being eliminated from the eliminator in BPL. However, Shakib will join the team before the start of the England series.
