Bangladesh T20 skipper Shakib al Hasan expressed his disappointment and admitted that the Tigers had a chance to beat South Africa and did not live up to expectations.

Chasing the target of 206 runs set by South Africa, Bangladesh were skittled on just 101 runs when there were still 21 balls left in the innings.

“It's true, it was a disappointing game. We had some expectations here to perform well, which we were able to meet. Particularly the first overs in both innings, in bowling and batting, the way we started our first overs we should have continued that momentum. We lost the momentum from a good position which was really disappointing to me,” said Shakib.

“Our batting was worse than the bowling. I think as a batting unit we are much better than today's performance. But unfortunately, we failed as a batting unit, which is disappointing,”

He brought up Australia's recent loss to New Zealand at the same venue and noted that such results are common in T20 cricket.

"Even Australia lost by a big margin to New Zealand. It will be like this. This is what happens in T20 matches. It is very normal and nothing unusual. The game is very exciting and entertaining. Also, you have to swallow such kind of tough pills sometimes," Shakib said today after the match.

Bangladesh is set to play against Zimbabwe which will be played at the Gabba this Sunday.
