Sri Lanka reached their first Asia Cup final in 14 years after an extraordinary win in the semi-final against Pakistan. Sri Lanka Women’s cricket team captain Chamari Athapaththu said that they are eyeing to win the Asia Cup trophy.

In an interview with Cricfrenzy, the Sri Lankan captain stated that the men's team victory in the Men's Asia Cup has inspired them and they are determined to maintain that form.

“Definitely the men’s victory was very inspiring for us because the last couple of years we struggle a lot in the men's game as well. So they finally won that's really good for us. So the men's team inspired us. So we have to continue that form. All the Sri Lankans are waiting for some wins,” said

Athapaththu further revealed her own expectations as a captain, “I want to be a good and winning captain. We never won the Asia job. This is a great opportunity for us. We can win the Asia Cup. We will try that,” added.

Sri Lanka set to clash against mighty India in the final of the Asia Cup on October 15 at the Sylhet International Stadium.
