Sabbir Rahman, who last played for the Tigers in a T20I against Afghanistan in Chattogram in September 2019, has been included in the squad for the Asia Cup, which will be played in the T20 format.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced a 17-member squad for the next Asia Cup, which will begin on August 27 in the UAE, following a meeting on Saturday.
The team will be led by Shakib Al Hasan, who was also named T20I captain till the next T20 World Cup, which will begin on October 16 in Australia.

With a lot of injury problems in the team, both Sabbir and Soumya Sarkar, who are currently on tour with Bangladesh 'A' in the West Indies, were in contention for the Asia Cup squad.

While Sabbir had a disappointing BPL season, scoring 109 runs in six matches, he scored 515 runs at a 39.61 average in the Dhaka Premier League one-day event. He also got the attention of the Bangladesh Tigers program.
Sabbir has been assigned to play one-day matches for Bangladesh A versus West Indies A in the Caribbean.
"We have seen him [Sabbir] in the domestic T20 side. We think he has the experience. We have sent him to play in the one-day series against West Indies A, to give him some game time." selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu said.
So far, the dashing batter has played 44 T20Is, scoring 946 runs at an average of 24.89.
