The president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Nazmul Hassan Papon, has stated that the board will take its time in deciding on Mahmudullah Riyad's T20I captaincy.
The BCB president also stated that there were no conversations concerning T20I captaincy during the board meeting on Sunday, and that they are waiting for the team to come home before meeting with Mahmudullah.

Bangladesh was defeated 2-0 in the T20I series, with the West Indies winning all three matches, including the opening T20I, which was rained out.

"I don't think changing T20I captaincy will bring better results overnight. We have to think long-term here as well," Papon said.
"I think when he [Mahmudullah] starts scoring, everything will be alright. Australia [T20 World Cup] is a difficult assignment and difficult for any captain. We don't believe bringing changes to captaincy will bring overnight changes. We can't bring overnight changes even inside three months since the team is playing frequently. There is not much break and these are important issues. When they come, we will hold discussions on what can be done for the T20 World Cup” BCB boss added.
Bangladesh next play Zimbabwe in the three-match T20I series later this month. Mahmudullah is expected to lead the side there.
