Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan Papon during a media conference asked a question regarding Shakib al Hasan's interest in playing Indian Premier League (IPL), 'if Shakib is mentally disturbed, why he was keen to play IPL?'

Ace all-rounder thinks he felt like a passenger in the recently concluded Afghanistan series and is not mentally or physically prepared to play in the upcoming South Africa tour. He said these things before leaving the country for UAE on Sunday.

"I am disappointed with the way I played the Afghanistan series. I'm not mentally and physically prepared to play international cricket at the moment. I felt like a passenger in the Afghanistan series," Shakib said yesterday.

Earlier, Shakib decided to withdraw from the Test series of the tour of South Africa due to playing in the  IPL. The BCB also responded to his request positively. But since this all-rounder did not get any team in the IPL, there have been discussions since then, this time Shakib had no problem going on a tour of South Africa.

Accordingly, BCB has named Shakib in the Test and ODI squad. But suddenly Shakib said that he is not in a position to play cricket.

Although Papon was not upset by Shakib's statement but he did ask questions. Bringing IPL to the fore, the BCB president asked, “Would've Shakib say something like that even if he got a chance in IPL? If he was mentally disturbed, he would not have given his name to play in IPL”

The Southpaw was included in the South Africa squad after receiving assurance from Shakib. In the past, he was initially included in the squad for the tour of New Zealand last December but was dropped again due to family vacations. He did not go to play a Test series in Sri Lanka last year because of playing in the IPL. He wanted a six-month break from cricket before the 2017 tour of South Africa.

According to the BCB president, the team management faces trouble due to his repeated uncertainties about Shakib.

"Nothing is happening to us (the board), but the problem is facing team management, the problem is with the coaching staff, the problem is with the captains. I’m sure the captain and the coach do not know this story of Shakib. Khaled Mahmud Sujon has been with him for so long, usually discussing the plan with Shakib, after asking Sujon, he also does not know” he added.
