Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif opined that Pakistan need to learn the tactics of Test cricket, after the first day of the ongoing Test series against Australia.
Latif was not impressed by Pakistan’s first-day performance as they scored 245/1 in 90 overs. The former cricketer compared Australia with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and said Pakistan should play with a higher run-rate against the Aussies.

“We play few Test matches. How to play Test cricket is something we might need to learn. This is not Sri Lanka or Bangladesh. If you want to win Test matches against them [Australia], you have to play with a higher run-rate,” said Latif on PTV Sports.
“If you are trying to score 500 runs, bearing in mind the rain forecast, you should declare an hour after Tea [on day two]. But you need to play normal cricket till lunch and then decide accordingly,” he added.
Opener Imam-ul-Haq scored an unbeaten maiden century and Azhar Ali notched up a fifty as Pakistan dominated day one in Rawalpindi.
Australia are touring Pakistan for the first time in 24 years, where they will play three Test, three ODIs and a one-off T20I.
