Bangladesh right-arm spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz admitted that they could not create pressure over Pakistan during the second session of the opening day.

Despite a solid start by Pakistan openers, Taijul Islam made the breakthrough for Bangladesh as he removed both openers before the morning session. However, Pakistan dominated the second session of Day 1 with an unbeaten 93-run stand between Babar Azam and Azhar Ali.

The day's play had to be called off early due to bad lighting, but the spinner feels Bangladesh are in a good position; he also believes it would have been better if they had taken two more wickets in the evening session.

“Taizul Bhai and Shakib Bhai bowled well. I think at the end of the day we are in a good position. It would have been better if the last session had been played and two more wickets had been taken in the evening session. However, they batted in a very attacking mood afterward. There are still four days left, if we can play well, there is still a lot to be done in this match,” said Miraz.

Miraz lauded Shakib Al Hasan, who returned to Test cricket after a long absence and partnered with Taizul to unleash a formidable spin assault against Pakistan.

“Taizul Bhai has made a very good impact. The partnership is very important in Test cricket. The way our pacers bowled in the morning; we could have taken more wickets. Then, Taizul Bhai made a very good impact with the help of Shakib Bhai as they bowled in partnership. However, we could not create pressure in the second session," he added.
