Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan stated that a batsman's career would be over if he plays 10-15 matches on Mirpur's surface. He also urged that the batsmen's performance in the two series should not be considered.

The slow, low wickets at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur was criticized throughout Australia and the recently concluded New Zealand series. As most matches in the recent series were low-scoring matches, with Bangladesh's batsmen struggling alongside their visitors on pitches that have come under criticism.

"Everyone who has played these 9-10 matches is out of form. No one could perform well that it can be said he has not done well. In the case of batsmen, it is better not to consider this performance too much,” said Shakib.

"If a batsman plays 10-15 matches on such a wicket, his career will come to an end. Let’s not count it. Everyone in the team is capable to win for the country. Everyone is trying their best from their place,” he said.

Bangladesh's Twenty20 side defeated hosts Zimbabwe 2-1 in July, beat Australia 4-1 at home in August and completed a 3-2 series victory against New Zealand in Dhaka on Friday. Shakib believes when the team wins, they breed more confidence although he was disappointed with wickets.

“I think I have a good chance. Our preparation has been very good. The big reason for this is that we have won the last three series. Maybe there has been a lot of criticism about pitch, wicket, low score. But there is no alternative to victory. When a team wins, it has a winning mentality, it gives another level of confidence. If you play very well and lose a match, you will not have this confidence. We want to go to the World Cup with this confidence, "

"We will leave 15-16 days before the start of the World Cup, there will be enough time to prepare. We will get enough time to adapt to conditions and pitch. I don't think the pitch-condition will have much effect there. Our winning mentality has been created. We can go to the World Cup with confidence,” he added.
