Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon has hinted to renew the contract with head coach Russel Domingo. According to the contract, he was appointed to work with Tigers for two years.
BCB doesn’t want to think of any alternative coach in this situation. As a result, Domingo will be seen as the head coach of Bangladesh in the T20I World Cup. Apart from Domingo, batting coach Jon Lewis’s contract will also be extended.
Domingo officially started his journey as the coach of Bangladesh on August 21, 2019. Bangladesh was supposed to play T20I 2020 World Cup under him. But due to Corona, that event of the World Cup was postponed.

“There are two or three issues that we have to look into. First, if we want to renew the contract or not and second is there has to be options if we are not renewing the contract,” said BCB boss Nazmul in the sidelines of the first ODI against Sri Lanka at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Sunday.
“We do not have any such thought amid the Comid-19 pandemic and ahead of a World Cup [World T20]. That’s the reality. The board has now getting involved [with operations of the national team]. We now try to know of things directly from the team,” the BCB chief added.
Domingo had first met BCB in 2019 during an interview for the post BCB High Performance head coach. The board however handed him the charge of the national team for a salary of around USD 15000.
Bangladesh have played 31 matches across all formats under Domingo and lost in 18. In Test the side has won just one in eight matches while in ODIs and T20Is have won six matches in each format playing nine and 14 matches respectively.
