During the first two days of the second Test against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh fielders dropped many catches. Catch miss, according to left-arm spinner Taijul Islam, is a part of the game. He said this after the conclusion of the day's match.
On the first day, Bangladesh was able to take only one wicket because of their sloppy fielding. Bangladesh fielders missed two possible wickets in the second day.
Nissanka was dropped on 10 runs by Taijul off the ball off Abu Zayed Rahi. In the press conference Taijul said that catch miss is part of the game. However, he also admitted that Bangladesh would have been in a better position if he had caught the catch.
"Usually in Test matches I field on points, Point or short gully depending on the situation. So catch miss is a part of the game. But that miss pushed our team to the back foot, maybe we would have been in a much better position if I could have caught that catch." Taijul said.
The second new ball was played for only 5 overs on the opening day. The ball was quite new at the start of the game. Captain Mominul Haque took the advantage of the new ball by playing three fast bowlers Taskin Ahmed, Abu Zayed Rahi and Shoriful Islam, also got 3 wickets.
"Overall, everyone has bowled well, Taskin has bowled much better, which has actually made it easier for our spinners to bowl run checks." He added.
