Bangladesh have knocked out by the hosts New Zealand in the three-match ODI series as they are now ready to lock horns in the three-match T20 series from Sunday. T20 skipper Mahmudullah admitted that they were outplayed in the ODI series but said in T20 no teams are big or small and ranking doesn’t matter in this format.
Mahmudullah said that Bangladesh is urging to beat New Zealand in T20. Before the start of the series, T20 captain said that they will try to play their best in the first match.

“We did not perform as expected, so we are disappointed. We believe that as a team we could not perform as well as we could. In T20 format there is no big team or small team. Whether it is the number one team in the rankings or the number nine-ten team, if a team performs well on a given day, if one or two players perform well, if we can do batting-bowling-fielding properly as a team, then we can beat any team. It is our belief. That is the T20 format” said Mahmudullah.

Bangladesh have shown sloppy fielding display in the ODI series, which cost them especially the second match. Mahmudullah believes, it is possible to make a difference only if they can use all catching opportunities.
“Game awareness is very important in these conditions. There will always be wind, many times it is important to be prepared for high or flat catches. Because the ball travels fast here. If every fielder is always alert, we have to take advantage of the opportunity - be it me or whoever. It is possible to make a difference only if we can use these small opportunities.”
Tomorrow’s [Sunday] match will be held in Hamilton. The next two matches are scheduled to be played on 30 and April 1, Napier and Auckland respectively.
