West Indies lead by 154 runs at the end of Day 3 of the second Test in Mirpur against host Bangladesh.  West Indies have lost three early wickets during the last session, Nkrumah Bonner (8*) and Jomel Warrican (2*) will resume on the fourth morning.


Windies have reached 41 for 3 in their second innings. Taijul Islam returned John Campbell (18), while Mehidy Hasan Miraz took the wicket of Shayne Moseley (7) and became the fastest Bangladesh bowler to take 100 Test wicket. Then, skipper Kraigg Brathwaite was returned by Nayeem Islam as he was caught behind by Liton Das.


Bangladesh ended their first innings on 296. The batting line up collapsed after the wicket of Liton Das (71), who got out by Rahkeem Cornawall as the batsman tried to paddle a fine sweep but got caught behind by Jermaine Blackwood. Cornwall bagged his second five wicket haul with Nayeem Hasan's (0) wicket.

After the Liton-Miraz fighting partnership, there were no better partnerships between any players. Taijul Islam remained unbeaten on 13, and Abu Jayed Rahi was returned by Alzarri Joseph. Miraz returned, scoring 57 of the 140 balls with 6 boundaries. Shanon Gabriel got the wicket.

Bangladesh qualify for Women’s ODI World Cup

Liton and Miraz made patient half centuries which helped the host avoid follow on. The two batsmen took the team to a safe zone after the collapse of top order batsmen. They made the highest run partnership of 126 runs of the innings.


Earlier, Bangladesh lost two early wickets by the end of the first session. Rahkeem Cornwall returned Mushfiqur Rahim as the batsman was caught by Kyle Mayers in the short cover, while attempting a reverse sweep. Mushfiqur picked up a half-century before his departure. Mohammad Mithun returned scoring 15 runs off 86 balls by giving a catch to skipper Kraigg Barthwaite.


West Indies posted 409 runs in the first Innings as lower order batsmen Joshua Da Silva 92 , Bonner 90 , Alzarri Joseph 82 stood for the team.
