Indian skipper Virat Kohli has broken batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar's record and became the fastest cricketer to 12000 ODI runs during the third ODI against Australia at the Manuka Oval on Wednesday.
Tendulkar had reached the feat during his 300th innings against Pakistan at the Centurion in South Africa in the 2003 World Cup. On the other hand, Kohli reached only his 242nd ODI innings - 58 innings less than Tendulkar.

Kohli reached the milestone when he reached the score of 23 in the first ball of the 12th over and he took a single off pacer Sean Abbott. Before the match, Kohli had 11977 runs in 241 innings at an average of 59.29 and strike rate of 93.32 including 43 centuries and 59 half-centuries.
However, only six batsmen including Sachin Tendulkar have crossed the milestone of 12000 runs in the history of ODI cricket. Ricky Ponting reached the milestone in 314 innings whereas Kumar Sangakkara took 336 innings, Sanath Jayasuriya in 379 and Mahela Jayawardene in 399 as well.
Meanwhile, another statistic also shows Kohli's dominance in ODI cricket. In comparison to Tendulkar and their respective 241 innings, the batting great had 9237 runs at 42.17 runs per dismissal at a strike rate of 86.41, which also included 25 centuries and 47 fifties. And, there is a difference of 2740 runs and 18 tons between him and Kohli as well.
Notably, Team India has lost their three-match ODI series by 2-0 to Australia, with the final game is ongoing.
