Bangladesh Cricket Board’s operation chairman Akram Khan blamed selectors for the Soumya Sarkar mishap as he was not included in the national contract list published by BCB on Sunday.

The omission Soumya was quite surprising considering he was quite regular in the national set-up for the last one year.

BCB operation chairman Akram Khan admitted that it was a mistake by the selectors as they failed to put his name in the contract list.

‘’It’s a mistake of the selectors,’’ said Akram. We are expected to include him soon in our contract list for the white-ball,’’ Akram told Cricfrenzy

Bangladesh Cricket Board on Sunday (March 8) announced that batsman Mahmudullah and pacer Mustafizur Rahman were axed from the Test contract list and were being handed only a partial contract for white-ball cricket.

The BCB during a meeting of the Board of Directors finalized a list of 16 players to be included in the national payroll, but only seven of them were offered a contract for both red and white ball cricket.

Newly-appointed ODI captain Tamim Iqbal, batsmen Liton Das, Nazmul Hossain, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mohammad Mithun and spinners Taijul Islam and Mehidy Hasan were the seven players who got a contract for all three formats.

Test captain Mominul Haque, spinner Nayeem Hasan, pacers Abu Jayed and Ebadot Hossain were given a contract only for red-ball cricket, while Mahmudullah, Mohammad Saifuddin, Mustafizur Rahman, Afif Hossain and Mohamamd Naim were given contracts only for ODIs.

Former skipper and all-rounder Mashrafe Mortaza, all-rounder Shakib al Hasan, batsman Imrul Kayes, pacers Abu Haider, Khaled Hasan, Rubel Hossain and batsman Shadman Islam have been excluded from the list of contracted players.

Chief selector Minhajul Abedin admitted that it was their mistake as his name was not included due to scrapping.

Following England national contract policy this is the first time BCB is having white and red ball contract.

Soumya absence from the national contract was quite surprising due to his presence regular in the national team was regular throughout the year.

The left-handed batsman had played 25 matches out of 30 matches for Bangladesh in all three editions last year. Only Mahmudullah (29) and Mushfiqur Rahim (28) is ahead of him.

Players who play out of contract in international cricket or in national team camps are considered as contracted cricketers at that time and are paid remuneration according to certain categories.

Chief selector Minhajul Abedin told media that they are returning Soumya to the agreement.

"Soumya will be in agreement, he has been placed in white ball contract. This time, since a separate contract has been made for the two balls and a lot of scrapping has been done, that’s the reason Soumyas name was dropped,’’ said Minhajul
