Bangladesh leading coach Mohammad Salahuddin said on Friday that he is competing with his own self rather than trying to focus on others and be ahead of them.

With the appointment of Gibbs as the head coach of Sylhet Thunders, the possibility of Bangabandhu BPL providing an opportunity for local coaches to excel come to an end as apart from Mohammad Salah Uddin, who is in-charge of Dhaka Platoons, rest of the teams went for foreign coaches.

Paul Nixon joined Chattogram Challengers while Ottis Gibson will be in-charge of Cumilla Warriors. Mark O’ Donell has been appointed as the head coach of Rangpur Rangers while Owais Shah will guide Rajshahi Royals. Khulna Tigers have appointed English coach James Foster and Sylhet Thunders opted for Gibbs.

However according to Salahuddin, who won two BBPL, he is not guiding Dhaka Platoon in the special edition of BPL with the purpose of outsmarting the foreign coaches instead he is prepared to learn from them.

‘’I think I can learn lot of things by watching them [foreign coaches]. The most important thing they may be great players but I personally feel coaching is different. I think there is lot of thing to learn and I will try to learn from them,’’ he said.

‘’I think challenges come from myself because I always think about myself. I do not think about any particular names or coaches,’’ he said.

‘’If my plan work than I will be successful and if it fails I will try to learn from it,’’ he said.

Salahuddin added that he feels simply lucky to win two edition of BPL and added that for his success franchises played a big part as they gave him the freedom to make all the calls.

I think I am very lucky. You need luck in cricket or else you will not get good results,’’ said Salahuddin.

‘’For good team performance in a team  a coaching role is not enough and more so in franchise cricket  if the owner do not help or the management do not support you then it is very difficult to be successful in these type of tournament,’’ he said.

‘’I think I am lucky as I have worked with good franchise and got good environment. I think I also got some good players in my team and hence good result happen,’’ he said.

I think I challenge myself my whole life and I think I like to challenge myself rather than challenging others,’’ he said.

‘’If you have survive in these country than you have to face lot of challenges,’’ he said.
