Flower was present during the player’s draft that took last month and even formed the Rangpur team but the 48-year-old had to step down in the last minute as SLC confirmed him with the job of the batting consultant of the Sri Lankan national team.

“Flower is not coming so we have appointed Mark O’ Donnell from New Zealand as the head coach of Rangpur,” Akram told the media.

Flower were in talks with the Sri Lankan board where the former Zimbabwean cricketer finally opted to move to Sri Lanka. He has worked as the batting coach of Pakistan.

Donnell has worked as a coach in Auckland and also has the experience coaching in T10 and also in the Abu Dhabi T20 league.

Meanwhile Rangpur roped in Pakistani batsman Ahmed Shehzad alongside the foreign players like Shai Hope, Mohammad Nabi. Mustafizur Rahman, Naim Sheikh and Taskin Ahmed are the local stars for Rangpur.
