Joty: We will give 110 percent to defend Asia Cup

Bangladesh Women's team skipper Nigar Sultana Joty said that her side will give their best to defend the Asia Cup title, set to be held in Sylhet from October 1 to 15.


Bangladesh Women's returned home on Tuesday, having secured their spot in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup in South Africa 2023 after an undefeated triumph in the T20 World Cup Qualifiers in UAE. 


"In T20 cricket, the difference in levels are very close. Whichever teams makes fewer mistakes on a particular day has a higher chance to win the game. As hosts, we will give 110 percent to defend our title," said Joty.

"We are motivated, as we are the defending champions. Our squad has a number of players who played in the last Asia Cup. They are well-experienced. As a host nation, we should keep our team ahead," he added.


Bangladesh won the previous edition of the Asia Cup in 2018 in Malaysia. The hosts, including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Malaysia, and UAE will participate in the eighth edition of the tournament.
