South African legendary batsman AB de Villiers said that he is happy that Shakib al Hasan listened to his advice and promoted him up in the order as that dividend for him.
Shakib had often said that AB advised him to bat up in the order and in the World Cup he opted to seize the opportunity that eventually paid off as after being promoted to No.3, he had a platform to showcase the true extent of his batting skill, and he did so with distinction, accumulating 606 runs at an average of 86.57, while striking at 96.03.

The 360-degree batsman had an exclusive show in Cricfrenzy on Thursday where he came up about his chemistry with Mashrafee, labeled as the best captain of Bangladesh.
‘’I have always seen him one of the best players in Bangladesh and a batsman specifically around the world. I have made several cricketers labeled as all-rounder and all-rounder just don’t bat at top three. It’s just an old school way of thinking you just bat five six and seven and bowl your overs and that’s your role and end of the story. I was a similar case when I was doing wicket keeping everyone said guys who do wicket-keeping cannot open the batting,’’ said AB.
‘’Sakib is just better than an all-rounder batsman and that’s the kind of thing I told him and I felt the best players in the world bat in the top four and if you wanna be one of the best batters in the world and that’s where your attention should be than you should step up and put yourself under pressure and then you can take you batting to next level or you get found out you move to six and that’s not a problem. You have to put yourself in that uncomfortable position to see as a character as a person and as a cricket player,’’ he said.
‘’Which he did and I was not surprised at all to see Shakib at his best at number three because he is calm under pressure and I very glad for him that he got that opportunity. Obviously you got to look at number three guys workload in Test cricket and how many overs he bowls and can he bat at three and all those things but that is another thing but I loved that he put himself to that uncomfortable zone,’’ he added.
